Also "don't be a douche when the words "kill myself" are involved...seems to be a gender bias here, as no mention is made of "Don't fucking threaten to kill yourself in a relationship EVER because it's depraved". In fact, you minimized her fault here by saying "well some girls just take things way too seriously". So it's ok because she is a girl, that explains why she would do that?

Ah, so your issue is with the means, not the end. Well, I suppose you have a point there. Although I can tell you, I've been in that situation, and there is a point at which talking no longer helps, because she will do and say anything to keep you around (obviously, if she's willing to say/do that). A certain directness is required. In fact, I think she might be more hurt by "That doesn't make me love you" than "fuck off". I mean, at least with Fuck off she has anger, and can probably move on based on "how much of an asshole that guy was".
